First WAVERs have just met at Louis’ home base: Oliver (TV Crew), Denis (Electric Support team), Helia and Martin (National University of Singapore) and Louis. Ignition for the WAVE 2014 just started!
One more beautiful village along the WAVE route… Stansstad will host the last WAVE event just before reaching the finish line…. we are looking forward to arriving in Stansstad at the Lake of four forests in Central Switzerland!
It is Wednesday and so there is just one week to go before I fly out to Zurich to meet up with Markus for the WAVE 2014. So I thought I would have a revision of my state of readiness.
This is a long post so please only read if interested in Paul Churchley’s personal preparations 🙂 Thank You. Continue reading 1 Week to Go!→
One of the reasons electric cars are so efficient is that when they are slowing down they do so by using the motor instead of the brakes. The motor acts as a generator and recharges the battery as it slows recovering the energy that would be lost to heat with normal brakes.
This is called regenerative braking, or regen braking. It is the same kind of system that is used in Formula 1 motor racing.
One of the benefits of regen braking is that the mechanical brakes are not used much and so they do not wear out and it is not uncommon for brake pads to last the life of the car!
Would you like to join the world’s largest Electric Car parade but you do not yet own an electric car?
No problem!
You too can join the world’s largest EV-parade in Stuttgart with an e-smart from Car2go! The time for bringing the car to the parade and during the parade will even be credited back to you. All new customers of this car sharing service can also get a free registration in front of the Mercedes-Benz-Museum before the start of the parade on SAT 31 May.
